How do I create a new rate card

Click Yield/Rate Classes, select the station then the Rate Class tab. Select the Standard Classand click New. If the rate class is to be a premium rate class click in the Class Index box and increase by the percentage that this class is indexed for a discount rate class do the same only lower the class index. Next, Click on the Class Options tab and put a label for the class in the Rate Class Description box. Then determine what users should have access to this class in the User Access section. To limit the capacity sold in this rate class change the Class Capacity from 100%. This will ensure sells will not be made with this rate class, when the demand level reaches the set capacity. Set the Expiration (In days) fill in the Minimum and Maximum. Minimum refers to lead-time (amount of days before the client can get on the air). Maximum is the number of days after which rates quoted expire. Under the Sales Proposal and Staion Options the following is available: Allow entry of higher rates on proposals, Allow entry of lower rates on proposals, Allow ROS scheduling and vertical by day, Allow entry of narrower than standard time, Grid selection only by forecast combination and Use this class for multi-station proposals. Select the options that apply to this rate class. Type terms and conditions that apply to this class. (Click here for samples) Next click on the Forecast Combinations tab. Add, delete, modify or move defined combinations as desired verifying that the correct cells in the grid to the right are selected. If Blacked Out Weeks are needed (possibly for a discount rate class), click on the Select Blacked Out Weeks button under the Class Options tab and select weeks from the calendar that is displayed. Now, select the Time Segment tab. Options are as follows: Apply Status, Rate Factors, Base Rate, Rate Ceiling, Locked Rates and Maximum Ads. Select and modify as needed. Click Save.

Limit Access to a Specific Daypart

Click on the Yield menu option; go to Rate Classes, and click on the Rate Class tab. Choose the specific rate class. Select Apply Status. Change the "Yes" to "No" for the specific daypart(s).

Adjust Rates for a Specific Daypart

Click on the Yield menu option; go to Rate Classes, and click on the Rate Class tab. Choose the specific rate class in which you wish to adjust the rate. Choose the Time Segments tab and change the drop down menu to rate factor. In this matter the pricing for a specific daypart may be adjusted by a percentage for the entire year. Example: Your morning drive is taking off because of a new morning show. You want to increase this drive time but do not want to affect other dayparts. If you wished to increase the rate by 20% then change the drop down menu from Rate Factors and change the 100% to 120%. Reducing the rate for a specific daypart is done in the same manner, using 100% as the beginning rate. To lower the rate by 5%, you would change the 100% to 95%.

Set a Base Rate

Click on the Yield menu option' go to Rate Classes, and click on the Rate Class tab. Choose the specific rate class in which you wish to set a base rate. Choose the Time Segments tab and change the drop down menu to base rate. Now you can set base rates for specific dayparts.

Set a Rate Ceiling

Click on the Yield menu option; go to Rate Classes, and click on the Rate Class tab. Choose the specific rate class in which you wish to set rate ceilings. Choose the Time Segments tab and change the drop down menu to rate ceiling. Now you can set rate ceilings for specific dayparts.

Set a Locked Rate (Politicals)

This will lock the rate for a specific daypart throughout the year. This is used primarily for political rates. Before using this option in other areas, please consult your Maxagrid Representative.

Adjust Maximum Number of Ads

Click on the Yield menu option; go to Rate Classes, and click on the Rate Class tab. Choose the specific rate class in which you wish to adjust the rate. Choose the Time Segments tab and change the drop down menu to maximum ads. Now you can set the maximum number of ads that can be sold on a specific daypart.

Multi-Staition Functionality

Click on the Yield menu option; go to Rate Classes, choose the rate class to be included as a multi-station rate class and then click on the Class Options tab. Under 'Sales Proposal & Station Options' put a check in the 'Use this class for multi-station proposals'. One rate class per station may be designated as a Multi-Station Rate Class. When a designated Multi-Station Rate Class is saved, a prompt appears asking if the class should be available for single station as well as multi-station proposals. Only stations that have a designated Multi-Station Rate Class will appear as selections in the Sales Proposal module when operating in multi-station mode.

Note: There can only be one designated multi-station rate class per station.

Allow Entry of Narrower Than Standard Time

In Rate Class, create a M-F 5a-6a rate class and delete all dayparts except one you call M-F 5a-6a. Select the cells that include 5a-6a from the grid on the right. Make sure that the narrowed dayparts box is checked in the Rate Class Options tab. Under File, System Setup, System Options, Scheduling, check on the box for "Allow narrowed times." Then set the buffers to reflect the number of minutes you want to allow to be narrowed from the starting time and the number of minutes you'll need to move back from the ending time.

Example: You build 5a-6a from the Mn-6a daypart. In order to narrow to a 5a start time from midnight, the start buffer must be set at 300 minutes (60 minutes x 5 hours to get from midnight to 5a). In this case, the end buffer could stay at 0.

However, please note that if you plan to build another rate class in your system to allow narrowed dayparts in general, you must allow greater flexibility on the end buffer. For the 5 hour daypart of 10a-3p, for instance, the end buffer would need to be at 240 to allow a daypart called 10a-11a. (Moving from 3p to 11a as an end time is 4 hours x 60 minutes=240.)

For a rate class that allows narrowed dayparts, use the Standard Rate Class as your template and create a new rate class. Name it "Narrowed Dayparts". Under the Class Options tab, be sure to check the box for allowing narrowed dayparts. Create any terms and conditions that apply, like "Dayparts may be narrowed to a 2-hour time period, minimum." Review all forecast combinations and delete any that you do not wish to allow narrowed times in. Be sure to set the Class Index (see Rate Class tab) higher than your Standard Rate Class, as narrowed dayparts call for higher rates. In Sales Proposal, your salespeople can go from the Narrowed Rate Class to the Standard Rate Class and combine both types of rates on the same proposal.
