Adding Printer for Windows 2000

1. Start | Settings | Printers | Add New Printer
2. Add Printer Wizard will open, click Next
3. Select local printer (other option being Network) deselect Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer
4. Select LPT 2 or LPT 3
5. Select printer
6. Windows based Yes/No
7. Do Not Share Printer
8. Print Test Page Yes/No, click No
9. Click Finish
10. Open CMD window
11. Type net use to return current assignments
12. Next assign the port for printer use by typing, net use lpt[X]: [\\server name\printer name] /persist:y ( I.e.- net use lpt2: \\sales-wwww\hp2 /persist:y )

Special notes:

• Must have spaces in the net use command.
• If network log-on scripts are used, the net use command can be added to the scripts to replace the command parameter of persist:y.
• We recommend using LPT 2 or LPT 3 for the net use.
• When printing from the Maxagrid application, you must select the newly added printer for printing to work in Maxagrid. Do this by for clicking the Print Setup option in the Maxagrid print window.
