The data should be installed to the server before any ARMS V4 program files, as the data install program will create the necessary file structure on the server. If, at anytime during this install you have any questions or would like more clarification please contact the IT Department and we will be happy to walk through the process or answer any questions, (972) 241-2110. We recommend you print these instructions for review and to use as a guide through the installation process.

Note: Please be sure to close all applications that are currently running.

  1. Click on this link, http://www.maxagrid.com/clients/login.asp or go to http://www.maxagrid.com/ and click on the Clients Only link on our home page.
  2. Either option will advance you to the Maxagrid Client Log In page. Enter your assigned user ID and assword and then click on LOGIN.
  3. Clients Only Welcome page has several link options, click on Download Updates.
  4. Locate the folder and black text link web site folder name- city & calls and click on it to open the folder and locate the data executable file.
  5. Double click the file name.exe file to initiate the download process.
  6. A File Download window will open, verify that Save To Disk is checked and continue by clicking on OK.
  7. The Save As window will display the default file name and the desktop location as its download destination. Click on Save. The download process will begin. Depending on your particular network, the download time of this small zipped program should be relatively fast.
  8. After the data download is complete click on Close in the Download Window and then click on the black back arrow to take you back to the download options main menu. We can now download the ARMS_V4 application., initiate this process by clicking on the folder and black text, Advanced Revenue Management System.
  9. Once in the folder double click the ARMS_v4_5_x.exe file. Just as with the data exe file process, the download window will appear with the desktop default location and name. Repeat steps 6-8. The 19meg file download time is longer than the data files and should average 4-20 minutes in download.
  10. You now have the option of unzipping this file to:
    1. A formatted floppy disk (a path of A:\)
    2. or create a new folder on your desktop and enter the path C:\Windows\desktop\"Folder name" in the WinZip dialog window. When ready double click the executable file on your desktop, enter the correct location and click on Unzip in the right top corner of the WinZip window.
  11. After you receive confirmation of, 19 file(s) unzipped successfully click OK. Proceed with the actual installation of the new files either by:
    1. Insert the floppy into the floppy drive (A:\), click on Start | Run and type A:\setup and click OK.
    2. Or open the new folder created on the desktop that now contains the unzipped install package and data. Locate the Setup.exe and double click it to initiate the install program.
Follow the on screen instructions and questions. This will ensure that the new data will be installed to the correct location. The installation process should take, at the most, a couple of minutes. Once the data install is complete, open Windows Explorer and browse to our newly created MXGW4 directory. Click on the plus sign next to the MXGW4 folder and then click the plus sign next to Setup folder. Now Move the ARMS_v4_5_x.exe application program to the MXGW4\Setup folder. Network installation can then proceed by browsing, from the sales or managers workstations, to the MXGW4\Setup\ARMS_v4_5_x.exe file and double clicking to initiate the installation of the program to the local C:\drive.
Briefly:
  1. First install the data (calls-date-ns.exe or bzztfm01nov01ns.exe) to the server.
  2. Second, move the application install program (ARMS_v4_5_1.exe) to the newly created directory mxgw4\setup.
  3. From a workstation where the application will be installed, Map a network drive to access the MXGW4 folder on the network. It is important that each workstation be mapped identically to avoid confusion over where the data is in the future. If you already have a mapped drive to the parent folder of MXGW4 then proceed to the next step.
  4. At the workstation that will use ARMS, Explore to the servers mxgw4\setup folder using the mapped drive and double-click the application install program ARMS_v4_5_x.exe. It has a default install location of C:\mxgw4\data. The application install will request to search for current data, click Yes to have it search for the data previously installed on the server.
  5. After you reboot log in to the application with the built in account:

    user name- admin
    password- admin

  6. Repeat process as needed on other WS.
Note: After verifying that the data files have been successfully installed to the server, be sure to delete the newly created install folder on the desktop or the floppy disk with the data install. This will help reduce the chance of anyone accidentally installing old data over any updated or manipulated data.
